Welcome: Welcome

"We may act sophisticated and worldly, but I believe we feel safest when we go inside ourselves and find a home, a place where we belong and maybe the only place we really do."

- Maya Angelou

Welcome

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to start a new blog. After my previous explorations of love (Finding George, in my early 30s) and money (Austerity Kate, in my mid-30s), I have begun exploring the rite of passage that some call a mid-life crisis, but which I like to refer to as

the time we come home to ourselves. The time we all encounter in our lives when we question our purpose, and whether we are living a life that feels true to us. Met with curiosity and openness, this can be an expansive time for us to explore new possibilities in life. More often, it's a time of uncertainty and doubt, where we are aware our old life doesn’t suit us anymore – like old skin that no longer fits – but we’re not sure how to move forward.

For people who are at a crossroads in life,

I believe we can draw wisdom from

The Wizard of Oz.

In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy ultimately comes to the conclusion "there's no place like home." But what is home?  Is it a place, a relationship, a state of being? How do we find it, and how do we get there?

In Ruby Slippers, we reflect on these questions and offer a variety of resources for you as you explore your own yellow brick road.

Each month, we visit a different topic together through various angles – including personal reflections, poetry, music, book suggestions, and interviews with others who have fully tapped into the power of their own ruby slippers and

come home to themselves.

I truly hope you find inspiration, comfort, and new insights on this journey - whether through the self-reflection questions, the interviews with fellow travellers, the book reviews, or even just taking solace in some music and poetry. If this content touches you in some way, I'd love to hear from you - you can reach me on kate@rsl-coaching.com.
